Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located in Nakasongola District in central Uganda, about 170 kilometers north of Kampala, is the only place in the country where visitors can see rhinos in the wild. Established as part of a conservation effort to reintroduce rhinos to Uganda, the sanctuary offers guided walking safaris where visitors can observe the endangered southern white rhino up close in its natural habitat. In addition to rhinos, Ziwa is home to over 300 bird species, including the rare shoebill stork, and other wildlife like bushbucks, oribis, and monkeys.
